The main objectives of this lesson were: to know what civic participation is, to know how the information and communication technologies ease civic participation, to know the electronic services that Public Administrations offer to citizens, to know the technology can be used to participate in democratic actions, to be aware of the technologies and digital media potential as tools for civic participation and to understand how the technology can be used to interact with other services.
In the first of the three practical tasks we had to make in relation with civic participation, consisted of creating a Doodle to decide the date of a meeting, and then the rest of the group had to answer that survey. I created a survey in Doodle so that all people could participate in it and I could be able to organize the event or the meeting with the data obtained from the results. First, I created the survey and gave the participants the option to choose one of the three days that I set for a meeting, then I invited the participants to choose the day they preferred and thanks to that data finally I could reach a decision. In the image uploaded below we can see the table of the survey I created on Doodle and the results my team mates voted.
For the second activity we had to create a Google Form to ask parents for permission on a field trip for our students where they could answer questions about their children's needs. The objective of this activity was to know how to plan events, send a survey, ask questions to your colleagues, parents or students or collect other types of information easily and efficiently thanks to the Google forms web page. There I created a survey in which by means of a link all the people that I wanted to participate would be able to do so:
https://forms.gle/cZ67cAiytDX7VsEb9. Thanks to that I were able to collect all the information we needed. In this image we can observe the survey I made where I asked the parents about the transport in the upcoming field trip.
For the last activity of the lesson, we had to create a user on Kahoot and create a question with four possible answers and only a correct one about our group's topic. The objectives of this activity were to learn how to create a Kahoot, as well as how to get people to learn, interact and be interested in the topic we have chosen. In my exercise, I created the Kahoot question that appears in the screenshot below and I made a question regarding the importance of celebratin the Peace Day with only one correct answer.
While performing the previous activities we had to keep in mind that technologies and digital media can be used as tool for civic participation, and we had to understand how the technology can be used to interact with other services. With these exercises, I found out about ways of involving citizens actively in decision making, planning and public matters management that affect their lives. All these tools are useful and could help us in our future as teachers.
